Hello Troels,
It took me a very long time, but eventually I finished my Faital 3WC-10 loudspeakers. I have never built cabinets from scratch before so I had to buy all the tools and learn a lot about woodworking. I have made a few mistakes on my way, but overall I am quite happy with the result. As you can see on the photos I used Valchromat and finished the cabinets with wood veneer. This is a Beryllium dome version with double binding posts, just in case I want to play with bi-amping in future. I attached a couple of pictures, but there are a lot more on my website: https://qwertyl1.wixsite.com/diyaudio/faital-3wc-10 Hopefully the photos can be useful for somebody planning a similar project. By the way, I am glad that I decided to go with the smallest Faitals - they are really heavy, I would be in big trouble if I build 3WC-15 or even 12.
Most importantly I am very impressed by the sound of these loudspeakers. They are very transparent, dynamic, with crystal clear treble, beautiful midrange and very deep, controlled bass. The soundstage and 3D imaging is great. No matter what I throw at them - jazz, rock, heavy metal, classical - they always perform brilliantly. I started hearing sounds and little nuances I have never noticed before. The best speakers I have ever owned!
It is worth noting that 3WC-10s do not need much power - my Cubie 2 amplifier (about 12W, solid state, push-pull class A) is a good match for them.
Thanks a lot for this great design!
Best Regards,
Przem
