March 2026 had two hifi shows here in DK. I went to both and heard a lot of speakers. Generally disappointing! I heard a large 100k€ speakers with trouble in upper mid/lower treble. Harsh sound. I heard a ~70k€  3-way with very much the same problem. I would expect better from such price tags.
It turned out the 100k€ speakers use standard PP for the entire crossover. Standard PP! These caps cost nothing and are no better than the standard Bennic caps so much used in Chinese produced speakers. I know: They have to match a production price point, but some of these companies have gone far in developing special drivers with fancy magnet systems, fancy cone materials, fancy baskets, fancy cabinet design, etc., etc. Yet, they use mediocre crossover components not allowing us to hear what these nice drivers can really do. Capacitors are the number one bottleneck in crossovers.
I heard giant horn systems where the dynamics were great, but the midrange really didn't blend with bass as it should. I've heard better in Munich from large horn systems.
I heard a 2-way, like the one below, in a nice cabinet, but using standard coated paper cones, they're OK, but not the best + a decent tweeter. Overall reasonable sound, but the price tag was 100k DKK = ~13,000 EUR!!

Prices have gone completely haywire in hifi. Go through the reviews from hifi shows on Tracking Angle, Stereophile, Analog Planet, etc., and you'll find systems with a combined price tag of 6+ digit USDs!

Now, all this to offer the 2-way below at a reasonable price with some of the best drivers around and not least SOTA crossover components allowing you to hear the quality of what you put in front of them. This is the Illuminator-7R, but with copper foil to the - to my knowledge - the best ribbon tweeter on the market.

Now, I made this speaker before, but a generous Swede gave an offer I couldn't resist, so I ordered the drivers once again and as I enjoy the woodwork on this speaker in particular I gave it many hours to be just perfect, so here you have it to be yours.

The kit price for this 2-way kit will be around 2060 EUR (20% VAT) and an additional 124 EUR for the cap upgrade. Add around 40€ for OAK fillets, 50€ for bitumen pads and around 300€ for Baltic birch. Total somewhere in the neighborhood of 2600 EUR with lacquer and all paraphernalia needed.
The speakers here are 18 kgs each! 

You will have to pay a little more than this for the best cabinet work I can manage, but you get something you cannot get from any other speaker manufacturer.
