Hi Troels,

Having become quite addicted to reading your Builders Response page I figure it is now my turn to contribute to the community. So here are my puppies in the semi active version. I finished them late summer 2023 so I have been listening to them almost a year by now. Pictures below.

My first impression was disappointing as I felt that they lacked bass. My room was at the time very hard with only little furniture. Now a year later, having rearranged listening position and speaker placement several times and treated the room to some extent, it is better, but still not good enough. I have however learned that the speakers are not to blame. I can get anything from a tight underwhelming bass to an unpleasant boomy bass by moving speaker and listener placement. So more room treatment is where I will focus my attention in the future.

Big sound stage, great dynamics, a bass that goes deep and a top that is very clear and well defined. And then this overall feeling that they play music so effortless - I can listen for hours without listening fatigue. No signs of a speaker being stressed.

I have not had 'real' hifi since I was a young man (now I'm 52) so I was curious to see if I could get hooked again. It would be a waste of money and time if I didn't. Now, after a year, I am happy to say that I did :-). Great work Troels.

As all plates were made with tongue and groove I was able to do a test assembly before actually gluing.

A few pictures of the process. After sawing and routing all the plates I moved everything into my living room believing that most of the work was done. That turned out to be a mistake.  As a result my living room was a workshop for 2½ months. The veneer was a first time experience. Experimented a lot on scrap wood until the quality lived up to my ambition level.

I painted the super tweeters black and made a 20mm thick front grill held on by magnets.
