Hi Troels,
I just finished building the Faital 3WC10.
The first build for me again in 35 years (made Rogers TL’s with Kef
B139/B110, Viva projects, Dynaudio, etc) and I must say I am very
pleased with the result. After a couple of weeks burn-in the sound is
neutral, detailed, refined, dynamic with a lot of three dimensionality.
They easily outperform my ATC SCM40’s which is really a very potent
speaker. There is also a huge difference in cabinet construction.
Knocking on the ATC cabinet gives a rather hollow sound, knocking on 21
mm birch/ bitumen pads Faital cabinet gives, well, nothing.
I have chosen the softdome version. I am already thinking of upgrading
tot the beryllium version. It is not that I am not pleased with the
sound of the softdome version, in contrary, they are so good. It made me
just curious what the level is that can be reached with ‘on paper’ an
even better tweeter.
I am using a Mark-Levinson 5805 / Naim NDX2 / Roon- NUC combination.
Power in abundance for the 3WC10, the difference in efficiency with the
ATC’s is striking, I guess 8 dB.
I made from 2,5 cm steel tubing two stands and filled them with sand.
This project made me very curious to the other designs, maybe in the
future.
Kind Regards
Peter
